Purpose of this policy

As a privacy conscious organization, we are committed to protecting the privacy of all individuals who interact with us, whether by registering with us, participating in one of our projects or as a sub-contractor for one or more of our projects.

This policy explains what personal data Impel holds about you, how we process it and how we use it. Our approach to privacy applies to all personal information received by us, whether in electronic, paper or verbal form.

What information do we collect?

We collect three kinds of information from visitors to this website and via email: queries and feedback; CVs from people interested in working with us and site usage information.

At Impel, we always want the information we hold to be accurate and up-to-date. If you change your email address or phone number and wish to notify us or even just want to check how accurate our information is, please contact us using the form on our website.

Who has access to your information?

Information provided via this website or by email will only be used by the Impel team. Impel will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Queries and feedback via email

We do not pass on any of your personal information when dealing with your enquiry, unless you have given us permission to do so. Any personal information provided during an enquiry will be held only until the query has been answered unless otherwise specified.

CV submission

Experienced consultants working in Impel’s fields of specialisation are invited to submit their CVs via email. When we receive a CV it is evaluated; if it meets our requirements we will contact you for an initial discussion before adding it to our database. When this happens, your contact details are held solely for the purpose of contacting you for inclusion in proposals and projects, and an electronic copy of your CV is stored securely on our servers within the office. Your CV will be stored for up to seven years unless you request it to be removed from the system. Please let us know immediately if you object to your personal information being used in this way. If your CV does not meet our requirements, we will not keep a copy of either your CV or your contact details. If your CV is accepted for inclusion in our database we may contact you periodically to request updates or to discuss work opportunities.

Visitors to our websites

When someone visits our website we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. We collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website. We will not associate any data gathered from these sites with any personally identifying information from any source. If we do want to collect personally identifiable information through our website, we will make it clear when we collect it and explain what we intend to do with it.

Third-party service providers working on our behalf

We may pass your information to our third-party service providers, agents, subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf. We will always tell you before we do this. When we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. We would only release your information to third parties beyond the above conditions if we are required to do so by law; for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

Transferring your information outside of the UK

If you are providing us with details from within the UK you need to be aware that the information which you provide to us may be transferred to countries that may not have similar data protection laws to the UK. By submitting your personal data, you are agreeing to this transfer, storing or processing. If we transfer your information outside of the UK in this way, we will take steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this Policy. If you use our services while you are outside the UK, your information may be transferred outside the UK in order to provide you with those services.

How we decide how long to retain your personal data

We cannot definitively set out how long we will retain all personal data in this Policy - this is a general notice that deals with different personal data collected for a variety of reasons. However, we decide how long we will retain your personal data based on the following factors:

If we are performing a contract with you - for the length of that contract and for approximately 15 years afterward to deal with any post-contract issues.

If you are in contact with us - we will retain your personal data as long as it is necessary for us to conclude the relevant correspondence with you.

Whether we think there is a likelihood of you contacting us again in the near future or if we think we need to contact you again, provided that the legal basis for doing so still exists, for no longer than is necessary in respect of that legal basis.

Storage and security of personal information

Personal information is stored in written or electronic form on our servers and computers and in various physical locations. We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse and loss, and unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, and any other interference. Personal information is destroyed, de-identified or archived when no longer required.

As our website is linked to the internet, and the internet is inherently insecure, we cannot provide any assurance regarding the security of transmission of information you communicate to us online. We also cannot guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted over the internet. Accordingly, any personal information or other information which you transmit to us online is transmitted at your own risk.
